Why £49, and why only 150 of you

The website's up. Every bet from the start of 2024, month by month, losers included, the questions I ask, and a members' area so the morning email has somewhere to live. It took longer than I thought and it's done the way I said it would be done. So now the awkward bit, which is the price, and I'd rather explain it than have you wonder.

Two weeks for £5, then £49 to the end of March, or £95 for the year. One payment each, nothing renews, and if your first month on the £49 loses at my stakes you email me and you get it back. That's the deal, and here's why those numbers and not others. The buttons are on the members page.

£49 for the winter is about 29p a day. I wanted it low enough that a bloke betting a tenner a point could cover it with a normal month and high enough that it's worth my mornings. One hundred and fifty members at £49 pays me for the mornings. It doesn't pay me a living. The betting pays the rest, same as it always has, and that's the honest reason I can keep the price where it is. I'm not selling tips to make a living from tips. I'm selling the list because the exchange can take my stakes and yours without the price moving, so it costs me nothing to share it.

Why only 150. Because I answer every email myself and I want to keep doing that. Past a certain number I'd either stop answering or start sounding like a help desk, and I've been on the other end of both. When it's full the buttons come down and you can leave an email for the next season.

The £5 for the fortnight is a real charge, so you know the card works and so that people who join are people who meant to. The refund is real too, and it's on the page in full, including how losing is measured. I've been burned by tipsters with money back promises that had three paragraphs of small print under them. Mine has one sentence.

If you've followed the email for two years, nothing changes for you except that it's now also on a website, and you get the members' area. If you're new, read the results page first, the bad months especially, and then decide. Take your time. The price is the same whenever you join. Start the two weeks whenever you're ready.

PS: the name on the site is BSP Favourites, because every bet is at Betfair starting price and every horse is near the front of the market. It says what it is. I've never been good at names.

For only £5.

Every bet I make, by email each racing morning, with the stake and my line on why. Pay £5 today, then £49 on day 15 for the winter pass to 31 March.

If your first month on the £49 loses, I refund it. Nothing renews after 31 March. Full details.
