A few of you have asked about Select Value. So here's what it is, and just as important, what it leaves out.
Select Value is a smaller set inside the BSP Favourites card. It's the main win bets where the evidence is strongest. They're picked out with the same thinking as my three ticks post, where agreement only counts when it's real. Every Select Value bet is already on the main card. It isn't a separate list, and it doesn't add bets on top.
So what does it leave out? The place bets, the comeback bets and the extras all stay on the full card. So does every main win bet that doesn't quite clear the higher bar. That means fewer bets, about three or four a week this year and some weeks fewer. There's no target number, so a quiet week stays quiet.
The stakes don't change either. A Select Value bet goes on at exactly the stake it carries on the main card. The only difference is that you're backing fewer of them.
Why bother? Because in the replay those bets have paid more for every pound staked. In 2026 they returned 35p for every £1 against 24p for the full card. They've beaten the full card on that measure in each of the last three years. Some months still lose, and a better return isn't the same as each horse being more likely to win. The full card includes place bets that land eight times in ten, so its strike rate will always look higher.
So who's it for? If you like a bet in most races, the full card is the one. If you'd rather wait for the cream and put a proper stake on it then Select Value was made for you. Its results are kept on their own. They're never added to the full card's figures, because they're the same bets. You're offered it once you've joined, and it's never forced on anyone.
